Avengers: Doomsday Gets a Sneak Peek During World Series Game 1

Marvel's Avengers: Doomsday reached baseball fans on Friday, 23 October, when an exclusive sneak peek aired during Game 1 of the World Series. The film is set to open in theatres on 18 December, less than two months after the broadcast, according to Deadline.
The game pitted the Tampa Bay Rays against the Milwaukee Brewers. It was carried on Fox and streamed on Fox One, so the clip reached a live audience that had no reason to be watching a film trailer.
The clip opens on a light moment. Pedro Pascal's Mister Fantastic throws the ceremonial first pitch to Joseph Quinn's Human Torch. Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers, and Paul Rudd's Ant-Man is left unsure whom to call Captain America, because Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson is now carrying the shield.
The joke lands because of the story the film is built around. Avengers: Doomsday centres on the multiverse collapsing, which forces heroes from several Earths to join forces against Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. The Fantastic Four are back in the mix, a return Marvel confirmed in its year-in-review material from December 2025.
Evans's return was confirmed in a December 2025 trailer, which Deadline reported at the time. Fans who had been waiting for that confirmation now have a short scene to go with it.
For Marvel, the timing puts a new piece of footage in front of a large sports audience ahead of the December date. The sneak peek shows the cast in a relaxed setting rather than a battle, and it sets up the question of who leads the team now that Sam Wilson has the shield.
The film's release date has been listed as 18 December 2026. The broadcast gave the same date to viewers who had not yet heard it.
