Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 34 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Los Angeles Clippers 108-101 on Sunday night. It was Oklahoma City's third straight win to open the season. The result was overshadowed late in the game by a frightening injury to Thunder All-Star guard Jalen Williams.

With 1:14 left, Williams drove to the basket. He landed, and his left leg gave way. His foot bent at an unnatural angle, and he stayed down on the court. The Guardian reported that he left on a stretcher with towels covering the leg. Players from both teams stood close by as medical staff attended to him.

The Thunder had already lost two other players early. Guard Cason Wallace left in the first quarter with left shoulder soreness and did not return. Forward Jaylin Williams also left in the first quarter, with right wrist soreness, and did not come back.

Williams, 25, is one of the team's most important players. He was a key part of Oklahoma City's 2025 championship run. He also missed 49 games last season because of injuries, so Thunder fans have already seen how quickly his availability can change. In April, he left a playoff game against the Phoenix Suns with a left hamstring injury, a muscle strain in the back of the thigh.

Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said after the game that the team would share an update on Williams on Monday. No diagnosis has been announced. Until the team speaks, the full extent of the damage is unknown.

Gilgeous-Alexander carried the scoring load on the night, and the Thunder got through a close finish without their second-leading scorer. Oklahoma City now heads into the next stretch of its schedule with a 3-0 start and a question mark over one of its top players.

For fans, the next day or two will matter most. Williams's teammates and coaches have been asked about his condition, and the team's Monday update will set the timeline for what comes next. Until then, the scoreboard shows a win, and the injury report is still being written.
