The Weeknd Debuts Unreleased Song "Hong Kong" at Kai Tak Stadium

The Weeknd premiered a new song called "Hong Kong" on Saturday, 24 October, at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong. The performance opened a four-night run at the stadium. The song has not yet been released.
The track samples "Seasonal Wind", a Cantonese single by Faye Wong from 1993. Sampling means reusing a piece of an existing recording inside a new one. Wong, a Hong Kong singer-songwriter and actor, also features on the song, according to Pitchfork.
Wong also stars in the visual that accompanies the track. Pitchfork reported that the video played on a giant screen behind Abel Tesfaye, the performer's real name, while he sang. A music video is a short film made to go with a song, often shown on screens at live shows before or after release.
The Hong Kong debut is not the first time the Weeknd has tied a new song to a city. Earlier this year, he debuted "Rio" in Rio de Janeiro. That track is a duet with the Brazilian singer Anitta, who had also worked with him on "São Paulo". His most recent album is Hurry Up Tomorrow.
Further dates at Kai Tak are listed on the Weeknd's official website. The site shows Friday, 30 October and Saturday, 31 October in Hong Kong. It then lists Wednesday, 4 November and Thursday, 5 November at TM Stadium Nasional in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Tickets and any changes to those dates would be announced by the promoters and the artist's team.
For fans in the stadium, the night gave them something most listeners have not heard yet. A new song, sung in a city where its sample is well known, puts a 1993 record back in front of a new crowd. Whether "Hong Kong" will be released as a single, and when, has not been announced.
