Daniel Seavey eyes Pitbull moment after Hong Kong debut at TIMA

Daniel Seavey wants his next stage moment to involve Pitbull — and a bald cap.
He floated the idea backstage at the 2026 TMElive International Music Awards in Hong Kong, in an interview with Billboard published on Oct. 16. It was his first trip to Hong Kong, he told the outlet. Billboard
On Aug. 22, he performed “Love’s a Gun” at Kai Tak Stadium as part of the awards. The second edition of the awards moved to a 50,000-capacity venue, a step up from its inaugural edition, according to the event’s announcement. Seavey started out in Why Don’t We, the five-piece pop group formed in 2016. He told Billboard the two to three years after leaving the group were rocky. That period involved lawsuits, he said, and left him questioning whether to keep making music.
He spent part of that rebuild on the road. In 2024, he opened for Benson Boone’s tour. He told Billboard he learned a lot from the run.
He called Boone perhaps the sweetest person he had met in the music business. Short sentence. Sincere praise. No backstage drama attached.
Asked what he had been listening to lately, Seavey named Prince and Pitbull. He said Pitbull brought a sense of serotonin, whimsy and fun that he feels is missing in music today. He meant it as a compliment.
That led to the bald cap. His dream collaboration or stage moment, he said, would be coming out at a Pitbull show wearing one.
What makes this stand out is how plainly he linked the fun he hears in Pitbull’s music to where he is now. After lawsuits and self-doubt, he is talking about joy, big stages and first visits to new cities.
