The Long Long Night Streams Free on Spotify, With Ads for Non-Premium Users

Spotify is now showing a scripted series for free. The Long Long Night, a six-episode show from Duplass Brothers Productions, can be watched at no cost, with adverts shown to people who do not pay for Spotify Premium, according to a Deadline exclusive published on 26 October 2026.
The series stars Mark Duplass and Barrett O'Brien. O'Brien is Duplass's real-life childhood friend. The story follows two old friends in the aftermath of their attempt to help the world by removing themselves from it.
The first two episodes are on Spotify now. The other four arrive at a rate of two a week over the next two weeks, so the full run is due to be available within a fortnight.
The show has already been on the festival circuit. It premiered at Tribeca, played at SXSW and was featured at the ATX festival in Austin. Festivals are public showcases where filmmakers often premiere work before it reaches a wider audience.
Duplass Brothers Productions also worked with Seed & Spark on a pre-sale, which is a way of selling rights to a project before it is released. It partnered with Kinema for an exclusive screening window, meaning a set period in which the series was shown through that partner.
The Duplass brothers have worked with Spotify before. In July 2020 they signed a first-look development deal with the company for podcasts. A first-look deal gives one party the first chance to develop the other's projects.
For viewers, the practical point is simple. Anyone with a Spotify account can start with the first two episodes today, and the rest will follow on the published schedule. Non-premium viewers should expect ads between episodes.
