Mia McKenna-Bruce Joins Amazon MGM's Romance Film Throttled

Mia McKenna-Bruce has joined the cast of Throttled, a romance film from Amazon MGM, Deadline reported on 26 October 2026.
She plays Sophie Mitchell, the daughter of a powerful figure in the racing world. Sophie also leads the second book in Lauren Asher's series, Collided. The film is based on the first book in that series, which is called Throttled and belongs to the Dirty Air series.
Three other cast members were announced earlier. Nicole Wallace plays Maya Alatorre. Julio Peña plays Maya's older brother. Josh Heuston plays Noah Slade, a teammate and rival of Maya's brother. Together, the four form the core of the story's young adult romance... [sic avoided]
Behind the camera, Nzingha Stewart is directing the film. Melissa Osborne adapted the screenplay from Asher's novel.
Producing are Max Handelman and Elizabeth Banks of Brownstone Productions, Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay of Ethea Entertainment, and Garrett Grant. Alison Small of Brownstone and Lauren Asher are executive producers, which means they oversee the project's business side rather than the day-to-day filming.
Amazon MGM has acquired Throttled for streaming. That means the film will be offered to viewers through the company's online service, where people watch on demand over the internet.
For readers of Asher's books, the casting gives Sophie a face on screen, and it puts the first story and the second one in the same production orbit. No filming dates or release date have been announced.
