Nintendo UK Releases Free Guide for Parents Who Feel Unsure About Video Games

Nintendo UK has released a free guide for parents who do not feel fully confident about their children's video games. The Parent's Guide to Gaming with Confidence is available to download now as a PDF file, and Nintendo created it with the Family Gaming Database.
The guide comes with research that Nintendo commissioned. According to that research, 68% of UK parents make decisions about their child's gaming without always feeling fully informed. Seventy-one per cent said they rely on their child to explain gaming terms, trends or issues to them.
The survey also asked which of their child's interests they understood least. Of the parents questioned, 28% said video games.
The guide gives advice on age ratings, the labels that suggest the minimum age for a game. It also covers choosing suitable games, online safety, screen time and parental controls, the settings that let an adult limit what a child can do on a console or device. Video Games Chronicle reported the release on 26 October 2026.
For families, the guide is a free download, so there is no cost to read it. It is aimed at parents who want a clearer picture of the games their children play, without needing to be gamers themselves.
