Apple Develops 'Sacrament' With Damson Idris and Jonathan Levine Attached

Apple Original Films is developing a feature film called Sacrament, with Jonathan Levine attached to direct and Damson Idris attached to produce. Deadline reported the project on 26 October 2026. It is still in early development, and it is planned as a starring vehicle for Idris.
The film follows two former Chicago police officers who now work as contractors. They track a runaway thief to a remote, fortified township in Sacrament, Utah. Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson wrote the script.
The project came to Idris through Chernin Entertainment, which approached him with the script. Peter Chernin and David Ready will produce for Chernin Entertainment. The film will come from Apple Studios, and Chernin will produce under its first-look feature deal with Apple. A first-look deal gives a studio the first opportunity to develop or back a production company's films.
Idris will also produce through his Keep Quiet Productions banner. Levine will produce alongside Gillian Bohrer through their company, MegaMix. Idris is already on another project. He is filming Miles & Juliette, a film about the jazz musician Miles Davis directed by Bill Pohlad. He also executive produced the Netflix series The Lords' Day.
Levine's next release is the sports drama Mr. Irrelevant, which he directed and which is set to open this Christmas. Deadline also reported that Tom Cruise chose Levine to direct a sequel to Days of Thunder after seeing Mr. Irrelevant.
Early development means the script, cast and release date are not set. Projects at this stage often change before cameras roll, and many never reach production. For now, the news is a lead actor, a director and a studio lining up around one script.
