Basketball star Anthony Edwards has released a new advertisement for his adidas AE 3 sneakers, and it takes shots at Drake, LeBron James and a rival shoe campaign. The promo, named "Omen," stars comedian Hasan Minhaj, according to Yahoo Sports, which reported the release on 26 October 2026.

Minhaj appears in the ad as "The official Anthony Edwards insider." In one line, he describes a bandwagon fan in Toronto dealing with fear of missing out and a pile of lawsuits. The ad was made in response to a Nike commercial from earlier this year, and Billboard describes it as the second ad in which Edwards has answered that campaign.

The original Nike ad came out in June. It promoted a new purple colourway of the KD 19, the signature shoe of Kevin Durant, and featured Drake. In it, Drake joked: "Hey Ant-Man, can you drop your purple shoes? Said four kids in Minnesota."

Edwards gave his first reply earlier this month. He released an advert made with PrizePicks, the daily fantasy sports platform, that parodied the Nike spot. The video showed a wooden box stencilled "FRAGILE: RETURN TO TORONTO," a nod to Drake's home city. An earlier report from Yahoo Sports described that ad as a response to Drake and Durant.

The new ad keeps the same back-and-forth going, now with adidas's own name on the shoe. Minhaj's sharp, fast-paced delivery sets it apart from the earlier clips, which leaned on a single joke each. The campaign is built as a running exchange, with each new video referring back to the last one.

For sneaker buyers, the AE 3 is the shoe at the centre of the campaign. For everyone else, the series is a reminder that athletes and brands now answer each other in short films, not press statements, and that a single line of dialogue can start a whole round of ads.
