Ubisoft has released Update 1.0.8 for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, the last major patch for the game, and it adds a New Game Plus mode. New Game Plus, often shortened to NG+, lets players start the story again while keeping much of their earlier progress.

The update went live on 27 October 2026 at 7am PT, 10am ET and 2pm UK time. It is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Eurogamer reports that the download is between 2 and 4.5GB on most platforms, but 15.5GB on Xbox.

Ubisoft began work on New Game Plus in July, after the game's launch. The publisher's official announcement is titled "Latest Update - New Game+, Nightmare Difficulty, New Content." Ubisoft confirmed the mode when it marked three million copies sold, according to IGN.

Most of what the player owns carries over. Edward Kenway, the pirate hero, keeps his tools, upgrades, unlocked weapons and trinkets. Money, materials, trade goods, outfits, hideout progress, perks, the art collection, Kenway fleet ships and store purchases also come with him. Codex entries, including every treasure map, stay acquired and completed.

Some things reset. Quest items do not carry over. Forts must be taken again, and the fog of war returns. Jackdaw upgrades, unlocked officer abilities and pets carry over, but the officers have to be recruited again.

New Game Plus also brings a new currency, Escudos. Players earn them by completing challenges and looting chests they have already unlocked. Escudos buy outfits and items that exist only in this mode. Existing Reales can be exchanged for Escudos at the General Store.

Players can start New Game Plus up to five times. Each run is harder than the last, with more frequent Elite soldiers and more common max-rank ships.

The update also adds Nightmare Mode, a new difficulty setting. Enemies react faster and do more damage. Parries need tighter timing, and ranged enemies target the player more often. The mode also removes one-shot kill protection. That means high burst damage from bullets and explosives can kill outright, even when health remains.

Smaller changes sit alongside these. Patch 1.0.8 adds community chests hidden around the game world, new cosmetics, new takedown animations and a set of bug fixes. Ubisoft's newsroom describes the update as bringing new ways to play and new rewards hidden throughout the world.

For players who finished the story earlier, the update gives a reason to return. The new mode keeps their gear and money, while the harder runs and Nightmare Mode change how fights feel. Ubisoft has not announced further major content for the game.
