Turnpike Troubadours Earn First Hot 100 Entry With Zach Bryan Track

Turnpike Troubadours have landed their first career entry on the Billboard Hot 100, the weekly chart of the most popular songs in the United States. Their track "Plainsman," recorded with Zach Bryan, debuts at No. 45 on the chart dated Oct. 31, Billboard reported.
The Hot 100 ranks songs each week using sales, radio airplay and streaming. For "Plainsman," the streaming figure carried much of the weight. Luminate, the company that counts music consumption for Billboard, recorded 6 million official U.S. streams in the tracking week of Oct. 16 to 22. A stream is one play on a music service, and official streams are those counted by the chart rules.
The song also sold nearly 1,000 downloads in the same week. A download is a digital copy a fan pays to own.
"Plainsman" comes from Bryan's eight-song set Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs, released Oct. 16 through Belting Bronco and Warner Records. Bryan and Turnpike Troubadours frontman Evan Felker wrote the song together. It is a mid-tempo track built around violin, cello, mandolin and fiddle. It is also the first recording the two acts have made together.
The two bands have shared a stage before. Turnpike Troubadours opened for Bryan on select dates of his Quittin' Time Tour in 2024.
"Plainsman" also debuts at No. 14 on both Hot Country Songs and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs. Those are the first appearances for Turnpike Troubadours on either chart. The band has now charted five titles on the Billboard 200, the main album chart, and on the Top Country Albums and Americana/Folk Albums charts. Its 2017 album A Long Way From Your Heart reached No. 1 on Americana/Folk Albums.
Bryan's own project is doing well. Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 65,000 equivalent album units. That measure converts streams and sales into the album-sized total used on the chart. The set also opens at No. 1 on Top Country Albums, Top Rock Albums and Americana/Folk Albums, which gives Bryan his fifth No. 1 on each of those charts. The album includes a collaboration with Lana Del Rey called "Lies."
Bryan had already had a strong run in this release cycle. His earlier single "Plastic Cigarette" rose to No. 13 on the Hot 100.
Fans who want a physical copy can buy the set as a CD EP from Bryan's official store, where it has a regular price of $14.98.
For Turnpike Troubadours, the new entry is a step onto a chart the band had not reached before. For the performers and crew who spend their nights on the road, it is also a reminder that a song heard on a phone can start to matter in a bigger way.
