Tate McRae's song "Housewife" debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, the weekly chart of the most popular songs in the United States, Rolling Stone reported on 26 October 2026. Only one song stood ahead of it: Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas."

Langley's track topped the chart for a 25th week. Billboard says that run extends the record for the longest reign at No. 1 in the chart's history. Langley was born on 3 May 1999 and is from Hope Hull, Alabama.

"Housewife" is McRae's first release of 2026. In its first full tracking week, the chart's Monday-to-Sunday counting period, the song recorded 22.9 million streams, which are plays on streaming services. It also reached an airplay audience of 12.7 million, meaning the number of listeners who heard it on radio. Sales came to 4,000 units, which is the chart's count of paid downloads.

The Hot 100 combines all three measures, streaming, radio and sales, into a single ranking each week. That is why a song can climb even when it sells very few downloads, and why radio and streaming numbers matter as much as the purchases that used to define a hit. For McRae, the debut is also her highest-charting song as a lead artist on the Hot 100, according to the same Rolling Stone report.

Further down the chart, Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan's "Expectations" remix ranked at No. 3. Zach Bryan and Lana Del Rey's "Lies" debuted at No. 4. Taylor Swift's version of "Patient Zero" ranked at No. 5.

The week's top five is a mix of solo and collaborative releases, and of new songs and remixes. Each position is set by the same three counts, applied the same way to every artist on the list. Every one of those figures is a tally of listeners, radio audiences and buyers, and the chart is the record of how many of them chose each song that week.
