Catherine, Princess of Wales, Meets Melinda French Gates in London

Catherine, Princess of Wales, met Melinda French Gates earlier this month to talk about working together in the future. The meeting took place at the London offices of Pivotal, the organization Gates founded. Town & Country reported the visit.
The two women had met before. They sat down at Windsor Castle, the royal residence west of London, on June 23. That earlier meeting was private and closed to the press. InStyle reported on it at the time.
Christian Guy, executive director of The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, described the October session. The Royal Foundation is the charity of the Prince and Princess of Wales. Its early childhood centre works on the years before a child starts school. According to Guy, the group shared a belief that children today face considerable challenges but also carry extraordinary potential.
No partnership between the Royal Foundation and Pivotal has been announced. The two sides discussed ways they might collaborate in the future, and that is the extent of what has been made public so far.
Kensington Palace, the office that handles the princess's public work, shared a photograph from the meeting. It did not post the picture on its social media channels. It used Flickr, a photo-hosting website, instead.
Gates is an American philanthropist, so the meeting also crosses the Atlantic. Pivotal, the group she founded, is the kind of organization that often turns a single meeting into a longer project. Whether this one does is not yet known.
