Celine Dion to Sing Paul McCartney Songs in Animated Film High in the Clouds

Celine Dion will perform original songs written and composed by Paul McCartney for the 3D animated feature High in the Clouds, Deadline reported on 27 October 2026.
Dion voices Sugartail, the mother of a teenage squirrel named Wirral. She is one of several well-known names in the cast. Himesh Patel and Hannah Waddingham top the list, and McCartney himself is in the voice cast alongside Idris Elba, Lionel Richie, Ringo Starr and Jimmy Fallon. Patel, Waddingham and McCartney will also lend their voices to original musical performances in the film.
McCartney said he listened to some of Dion's parts and was blown away, according to Deadline. Dion first joined the French-language version of the film in September 2025, a move Deadline also reported at the time. Omar Sy was announced for that version in the same report.
The film is adapted from McCartney's 2005 novel, written with Philip Ardagh and illustrated by Geoff Dunbar. Toby Genkel directs from a screenplay by Jon Crocker. Michael Giacchino has composed the original score, building on McCartney's themes.
Gaumont Animation is producing, with 88 Pictures handling key animation. Gaumont will show an exclusive work-in-progress screening of the film at the American Film Market, the Los Angeles event where sales agents and distributors meet to buy and sell films before they are finished. CAA Media Finance is handling the film's North American rights.
The soundtrack will be released worldwide by Universal Music Group. A record label handling a film soundtrack means the songs can be sold as an album and streamed alongside the movie, which is one reason music is often planned early. No release date for the film or the album has been announced.
For fans of the three McCartney-linked names on the bill, the project brings together a songwriter, a singer and a film score in one production. Dion and McCartney have not previously been announced as a pairing on a feature film score in this way, and the songs will be the first thing many viewers hear from the film.
