Over the past year, almost half of House Democrats have voted to cut off U.S. aid to Israel, according to The New York Times. The paper reports that support for Israel is waning among Democrats in Congress. Cutting off aid means ending U.S. government funding for it, and the House is the lower chamber of the U.S. Congress.

In July, the House rejected a measure to eliminate U.S. aid to Israel. Almost half of Democrats supported the move, according to The New York Times. The measure failed, so the aid remained in place.

Public opinion among Democrats has also been surveyed. A June poll by the Associated Press-NORC Center found that about 58% of Democrats said the U.S. is "too supportive" of the Israelis, according to U.S. News.

Individual lawmakers have taken positions on specific proposals as well. Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.), a Democrat from Virginia, supported an amendment, which is a proposed change to a bill, to slash U.S. military financing to Israel, according to his office.

Separately, Rep. Ayanna Pressley issued a statement on October 7, 2026, marking the three-year anniversary of the October 7th attack, according to her office.
