Flávio Bolsonaro Leaves Brazil for U.S. After Election Loss

Flávio Bolsonaro, a Brazilian senator, has left Brazil for the United States, two days after losing the country's presidential election. He traveled with his wife and two daughters in the early hours of Tuesday, October 27, according to The Guardian.
The presidential vote was held on Sunday, October 25. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defeated Bolsonaro and won a fourth term in office, The New York Times reported.
Before the departure, Bolsonaro was under a criminal investigation related to money. On Monday, Justice Alexandre de Moraes of Brazil's Supreme Court ordered him to turn in his passports within 24 hours, according to CNN.
NBC News reported, citing sources, that he refused to comply with the court order before leaving Brazil.
Brazilian authorities said on Tuesday that they were unaware of his whereabouts and were investigating whether he had gone to the United States, according to ABC News.
A senior U.S. State Department official said Bolsonaro and his family will be granted U.S. visas, as The Associated Press reported.
