Amy Poehler thinks "The Pitt" needs more kissing, and Noah Wyle has a number in mind. The exchange came on Poehler's podcast, "Good Hang with Amy Poehler," released on October 27, 2026, according to Variety. The hour-long conversation, which runs 1:15:08 on YouTube, also covered Wyle's years on "ER."

"The Pitt" is an HBO drama in which Wyle plays Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch. Poehler said that if the show is going to include guts and blood, it should also include romance. She told him, "every time you got to get a little smooch." She went further and proposed a one-to-one ratio of gory moments to kisses.

Wyle asked whether she meant "one for one." He said he would "maybe" talk about a ratio of one gory moment to four romantic ones, but not one-to-one. Poehler then pushed the point in another direction: "You gonna show the guts, you gotta show some butts." Wyle replied that the show does show butts, just not in romantic contexts.

The banter has a serious backdrop. Wyle won the 2026 Golden Globe for best performance by a male actor in a television drama series for "The Pitt." Variety also reports that he won back-to-back Emmy awards for best actor in a drama series, in 2025 and 2026.

Viewers will get more of Robby soon. Season 3 is set to premiere in January 2027. It will follow his first day back at work after a three-month break, a sabbatical, that ended Season 2.

The podcast had a lighter side too. Wyle talked about being pranked by George Clooney on the set of "ER," and about nearly being killed by an emu, according to the episode's listing on iHeart.

Wyle's week also brought a different kind of headline. People named him its 2026 Sexiest Man Alive, and the reveal happened on Poehler's show. Wyle said, "I Should Have Trained Harder for This." People also reports that his wife, Sara, talked him into accepting the title, and that Wyle says there is a "division of labor" at home, with the sink as his domain.

Whatever the ratio ends up being, the show's next season is already on the calendar for January.
