Prince William has admitted he tried to move Travis Kelce out of a famous 2024 selfie taken at Wembley. He made the admission on The Graham Norton Show, the BBC chat programme hosted by Graham Norton. Kelce replied on Wednesday 28 October, when he and his brother Jason posted two edited versions of the photo online.

The original picture includes William, his children Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. On the programme, William said he had not appreciated the significance of the post when it went up. He described his attempt to nudge Kelce out of the frame as a joke.

The Kelce brothers answered with a pair of edits. Both were posted on social media with the caption "As you requested, @kensingtonroyal", a reference to the handle used by the official accounts of the Prince and Princess of Wales. One version removed Travis Kelce from the picture altogether. The other replaced him with Jason Kelce.

Travis Kelce spoke about the exchange on New Heights, the podcast he and his brother host, also on Wednesday. He said he was "just a boyfriend at that point", meaning he was not yet married to Taylor Swift when the photo was taken. He also said "I get it, man" in response to William's comments, and added "Shout out to Prince William, man."

The two have crossed paths on the show before. The BBC reported in July 2026 that William had appeared on New Heights to talk about World Cup fever. Episodes of the podcast are published on the show's YouTube channel, @newheightshow. Swift has also been a guest, discussing her efforts to regain ownership of her master recordings and her album The Life of a Showgirl.

Travis Kelce has played 13 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, winning three Super Bowls with the team. His brother Jason, a former Philadelphia Eagles centre, spent a 13-year NFL career with the club and now works on ESPN's Monday Night Countdown.

What makes the exchange stand out is how light it stayed. A royal admitting to a photo edit on a late-night chat show, followed within days by the photo being edited again on purpose, has been treated by both sides as a bit of fun. Neither side has said anything further about the selfie itself.
