Amanda Plummer, Christopher Chung and T'Nia Miller Join Apple TV's Ascension
Three more actors have joined the cast of Ascension, the Apple TV drama from Alfonso Cuarón. Amanda Plummer, Christopher Chung and T'Nia Miller have each been cast as series regulars, which means they are main cast members rather than guest stars. Variety reported the casting on 28 October 2026.
Their characters have not been revealed. The show's lead is Caitríona Balfe, who plays Rose, a documentary filmmaker and recently divorced mother. Rose investigates the Church of Ascension, a cult from the 20th century. Bill Nighy will also star alongside Balfe.
The series is inspired by Last Days, a novel by Adam Nevill. Cuarón co-wrote the show with Carlos Cuarón, Natalie Erika James and Christian White. James and White are co-showrunners, the people who lead the writing and running of a series day to day. James is also the lead director. Balfe will serve as an executive producer as well as a star. An executive producer is a senior credit, usually held by people who oversee a project's direction and business side.
Cuarón executive produces through Esperanto Filmoj, his production company, which has an overall TV deal with Apple. Gabriela Rodriguez and Richard Schwartz will executive produce for Esperanto Filmoj. The show is produced by Anonymous Content, where Steve Golin, David Levine and Zack Hayden will executive produce. Apple Studios is the studio behind it.
Apple first announced the drama on 10 August 2026. In its press release, the company named James and White as the series' creative leads and said Balfe would star and executive produce. Apple also described the project as a new reunion with Cuarón, who has previously worked with the company.
For viewers, the news fills in the cast list. For the production, it means a full group of actors, writers and producers is now working on the show. Series regulars usually sign on for the whole season, so these three roles set the core group of characters the story will follow.
No premiere date has been announced so far. The cast and crew are the next thing to watch as the show moves towards production.
