Miranda Lambert says she wrote 75 songs in the first four months after she moved back to Nashville in 2015. She talked about that stretch on And The Writer Is... With Ross Golan, as Billboard reported on 28 October 2026.

The songs were written while Lambert was making The Weight of These Wings, her 2016 album. It is a two-disc set about getting through heartbreak after her divorce from Blake Shelton. The couple married in 2011 and finalised their divorce in 2015. According to iHeart, it was the first album she released after that divorce. The songs "Tin Man" and "Vice" both come from it.

The episode covered much more than one album. Lambert reflected on two decades in music, how her songwriting has changed over that time, and how she has leaned on writing to cope with heartache. Her 2014 album Platinum topped Billboard's Top Country Albums chart for six weeks. That chart ranks the country albums that sold and streamed most each week, so a run of six weeks at number one means the album stayed the most popular country record in that count for six consecutive weeks.

Lambert married former New York Police Department officer Brendan McLoughlin in 2019. Her personal life has been part of her public story for years, and the podcast touches on it mainly through the songs it produced.

And The Writer Is... With Ross Golan is a weekly podcast with conversations about the music business, featuring artists, songwriters and producers. It is produced by Joe London and Ross Golan, in association with Mega House Music. Each episode puts a working songwriter in front of a microphone and asks how the song got made.

That format is the draw here. Most listeners hear the finished record first and the story later. In this conversation, the story comes first, and the record is the result of a difficult period. For anyone who writes songs, or has wondered how a breakup turns into a tracklist, the episode offers a direct account from one of the genre's best-known writers.
