Irish band Fontaines D.C. debuted their fifth album, Dopamine Chamber, at No. 1 on Billboard's Independent Albums, Vinyl Albums and Indie Store Album Sales charts, Billboard reported. The album came out on October 16, 2026, through the XL and Remote Control labels, according to the band's website.

The record also reached No. 14 on the Billboard 200, the main weekly chart for albums in the United States. It placed No. 2 on Top Album Sales, No. 4 on both Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums, and No. 5 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums. On each of those charts, it was the band's highest position so far.

Billboard's figures come from Luminate, the company that tracks music sales and streams for the industry. They cover the week ending October 22. The album earned 27,000 equivalent album units in the United States that week. That is a single total that combines album sales, track sales and streams, with the streams converted into album-sized amounts. Of the 27,000, 18,000 were straight album sales, and 13,000 of those were vinyl. Each of those three measures was also a career high for the band.

The lead single, "Marianne," rose from No. 4 to No. 2 on Billboard's Adult Alternative Airplay chart, which ranks songs by how often radio stations play them on adult alternative formats. On the Alternative Airplay chart, it stayed at its No. 16 peak.

The band's reach extended across the Atlantic. Billboard also reported that Dopamine Chamber debuted at No. 1 on the U.K.'s Official Albums Chart, the band's second U.K. No. 1 album. Music Week, the British trade publication, reported that the album opened with 70,105 units in the UK, a figure that also mixes sales and streams. Within that total, 14,235 were CDs, 37,501 were vinyl albums and 1,796 were cassettes. Vinyl was the biggest physical format in the opening week.

The band formed in Dublin and plays modern rock. Dopamine Chamber follows Dogrel (2019), A Hero's Death (2020), Skinty Fia (2022) and Romance. The album includes "Where Is Gone?," a track featuring the Spanish singer Rosalía.

For listeners who want a physical copy, the band's official U.S. store sells Dopamine Chamber on standard black vinyl and on CD.

Chart positions shift each week, so the next Billboard and Official Charts Company tables will show whether the album holds its place. For now, the opening numbers are the clearest picture of how the album started.
