Cheap Trick has cancelled all of its 2027 concerts. In a group statement posted on its Instagram account, the band said it had decided to take time off after decades of touring because it needs a break. The band stressed that the pause is "Not for health reasons."

The band's November 2026 shows are still going ahead as planned. Cheap Trick was next booked to play on November 5 at the Clyde Theatre in Indiana. The run is scheduled to end on November 22 at the Sound Board Theater in Detroit, Michigan, and it covers 10 shows in total. The band said it will play those dates and then take its first break in 50 years. Its last performance was on October 9 at VyStar Pavilion in Savannah, Georgia.

Rolling Stone reported that the band's touring pause comes as its guitarist, Rick Nielsen, has dealt with health issues. Nielsen has COPD, a chronic lung condition, and asthma. At a show at RiverEdge Park in Aurora, Illinois, he briefly left the stage because of breathing trouble. He has also announced that he is cancer-free, speaking at a Pinktober event at the Hard Rock Casino Rockford in Illinois.

Cheap Trick formed in 1973. The original lineup was Robin Zander, Rick Nielsen, Tom Petersson and Bun E. Carlos. Those four stayed together until 2010, with one exception: Petersson stepped away from the band between 1980 and 1987. In 2010, the band parted ways with drummer Carlos and brought in Daxx Nielsen, Rick Nielsen's son, on drums. In 2016, Robin Taylor Zander, Robin Zander's son, joined as rhythm guitarist.

Fans who want something to take home can also look at a new reissue. According to the band's website, "The Complete Epic Albums Collection" is now available on vinyl. The set is 14 LPs (long-playing records) pressed on crystal clear vinyl, and it gathers the band's work for Epic Records from 1977 to 1990. It comes in a deluxe slipcase with an exclusive 4-page booklet. Only 1,000 numbered copies are being made worldwide.

For the audiences in Indiana and Detroit, the next few weeks offer the band's final scheduled dates before the 2027 pause. The break has been announced, and the November run is still on the calendar.
