Spanish streaming service Filmin has licensed Blindspot Berlin, a German police thriller about the effort to stop the 2016 Berlin Christmas market attack. Beta Film, which handles the show's international sales, announced the deal on Friday.

The series runs six parts and follows a counter-terror police unit. Its story covers the German police work to prevent the attack of December 19, 2016, which killed 13 people and injured dozens. Albrecht Schuch plays Detective Lieutenant Frank Laudlin. Bayan Layla joins him as a rookie cop, according to Variety's MIPCOM preview.

The show was created, co-written and directed by David Nawrath and produced by Neuesuper. Germany's public broadcaster ARD, along with rbb, NDR and HR, backs the project. It launches on ARD's own streaming service on October 30, with linear TV broadcasts, the traditional channel-based schedule, on November 1 and November 6.

Filmin will make the series available in early 2027. The service plans to make it a flagship title for the first quarter of that year, meaning the main show it promotes at the centre of that period. Spanish viewers will have to wait several months for it. The deal was announced ahead of the series' screening in the main competition at the South International Series Festival in Cadiz.

The thriller had its world premiere at TIFF Primetime in Toronto, where it was one of only two European series selected. Variety first reported the Filmin deal.
