Tame Impala have recorded a cover of Seal's "Kiss From a Rose" for triple J's Like A Version, the segment in which an artist picks a song and performs it live. triple J reported the appearance, which is the band's fourth on the series. On the same page, triple J said Conan Gray had made his own Like A Version debut, covering ADÉLA's "Ain't In LA".

The Seal cover came with a story from the band's frontman, Kevin Parker. He told Rolling Stone that "Kiss From a Rose" was a childhood favourite. The song first appeared on the soundtrack to the film Batman Forever. Parker said he knew every song on that soundtrack, that it was the first CD he ever bought, and that he used to play it back to back. He also said the ballad is what first made him obsessed with music.

Tame Impala's appearance followed the Australian leg of their Deadbeat Tour, the run of shows supporting the band's album Deadbeat. For Halloween, the band also performed their own song "Dracula" live for the series, according to triple J. "Dracula" is one of the tracks on Deadbeat. Rolling Stone reported that the band has also recorded a new version of the song.

Triple J has put both performances online. It posted a YouTube Short of the Seal cover, along with a full video of that performance and a separate video of "Dracula" performed live for Like A Version. Each video is on the station's YouTube channel.

Triple J and its sister station Triple J Unearthed have also launched a new video series called demo. It features emerging acts playing in a stripped-back setting, with fewer production extras than a typical studio video. The first episodes are part of the station's online output alongside Like A Version.

For anyone who wants to hear the cover, the video is the quickest way in. Like A Version sessions are recorded live, so the performance is the song, with no studio polish added afterwards.
