Comedian Pauly Shore's new half-hour stand-up special, Road Comic: Live from Portland, arrives on PlayStation 5 on November 1, and viewers will not have to pay to watch it. The special will be available for free on demand through the Live TV streaming section of the console, according to Deadline, which first reported the release plans on October 30.

"On demand" means viewers can start the show whenever they like, rather than waiting for a set broadcast time. Live TV streaming on PlayStation is the console's section for free channels and on-demand content, so the special will sit alongside other programmes there.

The show was recorded in front of an audience at the Portland Helium Comedy Club in Portland, Oregon. Shore also directed it himself, so he handled the look of the recording as well as the performance on stage.

The special is produced by Comedy Compound Productions and Robot Pirate Media.

PlayStation viewers are not the only ones who will get it. Shore plans to release Road Comic: Live from Portland on his own YouTube channel on November 17, about two weeks after the console debut. That gives fans two free places to see the same half-hour set.

For the comedian, the release means a fresh hour of material is now easy to find for people who might not know his stand-up. For anyone who has followed his career, it is one more recording to add to the list. Either way, the special will be watchable without a ticket, a subscription or a trip to a theatre.

The timing also means the special reaches two audiences in quick succession, one on the console and one on the open web. Viewers who want to catch it first will need a PlayStation 5 and the Live TV section of the console. Everyone else can wait for the YouTube upload in mid-November.
