Selma Blair Apologises for Her October JFK Airport Arrest

Actor Selma Blair has apologised for her arrest at New York's JFK airport in October. In a video shared on Friday, October 30, she spoke publicly for the first time about the incident, according to Deadline.
"To the people that I disappointed, that I hurt, that I frightened, alarmed, I am so sorry," she said in the video, as NBC News reported.
The arrest took place on Sunday, October 11. Port Authority police apprehended Blair after she flew from Los Angeles (LAX) to New York City. Deadline reports that she allegedly tried to open an airplane exit door in mid-flight. It also reports that she allegedly punched one airline employee and hit another.
Deadline further reports that Blair was accused of hitting a police officer at the airport, and a nurse at the hospital she was taken to. These are allegations. They have not been tested in court.
A spokesperson for Blair disputed the door claim. On October 16, Reuters reported that the spokesperson said there was no attempt to open the aircraft door, and that Blair did not intend to cause harm.
In her own video, Blair said she never meant to hurt or frighten anyone in connection with the October 11 incident. She also said her lawyers had asked her not to discuss the legal matter, which is why her remarks on the case were limited.
The legal process has begun. Blair has pleaded not guilty to two charges of second-degree assault. She was released on an $80,000 bond, a sum of money a defendant pays or pledges to a court to be allowed out of custody while the case continues. She is expected back in court on January 19, 2027.
Until then, the case rests on the charges. Blair has not been convicted of anything, and the court will decide what follows.
