Manchester United and Everton played out a 0-0 draw in the Women's Super League on Saturday 31 October 2026, and neither side found the winner. The match was a lunchtime kick-off, and it finished with both teams still looking for the goal that would settle it.

For Everton, it was their first league draw of the season. They had won three and lost four before this game, so a point felt like a step forward. For United, it was another game without defeat. Manchester United said the result stretched their unbeaten run to six league matches, and BBC Sport put it at 10 games in all competitions.

The result also left a small but telling mark on the rivalry. Everton have not beaten Manchester United in any of their 15 Women's Super League meetings. United had also won at Everton in each of the previous four seasons, so the draw stopped a run of away wins as well.

United's head coach, Eva Olid, took over from Marc Skinner in August. She kept the same starting line-up for the fifth league game in a row against Everton. Afterwards she was honest about the performance. Olid said her side had been slow to react when they lost the ball, and that they had missed the creative play and the links between players that they need when they have it.

"We need to be better," she said.

Her comments point to the central problem of a goalless game. Teams can dominate possession and still struggle to create clear chances. In this match, Olid felt her players did not move the ball forward quickly or cleverly enough to break Everton down.

The draw leaves United fourth in the table, four points behind London City Lionesses. That is close enough to stay in touch with the leaders, but United will need more goals and more sharp finishing to close the gap. Everton, meanwhile, will take some encouragement from a stubborn defensive display against a side that has been in strong form.

Both clubs now move on. Neither will be happy to have finished without a goal, but both can point to a clean sheet and a point taken on the road or in a derby of sorts. The next few weeks will show whether that point was a turning point or just one more result in a long season.
