Arnold Schwarzenegger Suits Up as Santa in New Amazon Christmas Comedy
Arnold Schwarzenegger is Santa Claus in The Man With The Bag, and Amazon MGM Studios has released the first trailer for the holiday comedy. The film is scheduled to launch on Amazon Prime, the company's streaming service, on December 2, according to Deadline.
The story turns on a theft. A naughty elf steals Santa's magic bag, and Alan Ritchson plays the thief Vance. The Hollywood Reporter said that in the film Santa teams up with Vance, which sets up an odd-couple pairing between the jolly legend and a criminal.
Adam Shankman directs the film. Allan Rice wrote the script. The cast also includes Berkeley James, Michael Cyril Creighton, Liza Koshy, Kyle Mooney, Jane Krakowski, Ken Jeong and Awkwafina, who join Schwarzenegger and Ritchson in the ensemble.
Schwarzenegger has played a wide range of roles over his long screen career, from action heroes to comedies. Here he takes on one of the most recognisable figures in the world, in a film built around a missing piece of Christmas equipment. Trailers at this point in the year are a familiar way to set expectations for a family audience before the holiday season.
