Bruce Springsteen has endorsed Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan. He announced the backing in an Instagram post on Monday, November 2, 2026, on the eve of the midterm elections, the national votes held two years into a president's term.

"I'm in his corner 100%," Springsteen said, according to Billboard. He called El-Sayed "a fighter for our American Constitution" and "a fighter for our American Democracy."

The seat is currently held by Democrat Gary Peters. El-Sayed will face Republican Mike Rogers in the contest for it.

The endorsement follows a split inside the state's Democratic ranks. Michigan Rep. Haley Stevens, a Democrat who represents a district in the U.S. House, withdrew her support for El-Sayed and endorsed Rogers, according to Billboard and MyNewsNation.

Michigan Democratic Party chairman Curtis Hertel responded to Stevens's move. He said she "is not a current member of the Michigan Democratic Party, nor will she be in the future."

Springsteen is one of the best-selling artists of his generation, and his official website lists his career figures. It says he has sold more than 140 million records worldwide and more than 70 million in the United States. The same site credits him with 20 Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, two Golden Globes and a Special Tony Award.

For readers outside Michigan, the practical point is simple. The Senate race will be decided by voters, and the endorsements now on the table come from a musician, a sitting House member and the state party chair. Each one is a public statement, and none of them changes the ballot itself.
