Wicker opened at No. 1 at the U.K. and Ireland box office, taking £1.76 million ($2.34 million), according to Variety. The box office is the chart of ticket sales, and the figures are in pounds for the U.K. and euros' worth of tickets for Ireland, converted here to US dollars.

Its closest rival was Primetime, which opened at No. 2 with £1.75 million ($2.33 million). The gap between the two was £10,141, a little under 1 per cent of Wicker's total.

Wicker is directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson. Its cast includes Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, Peter Dinklage and Elizabeth Debicki. It opened on October 23, 2026, according to Deadline.

Primetime is directed by Lance Oppenheim. Robert Pattinson leads it, alongside Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo and Phoebe Bridgers.

The two films took different routes into cinemas. Black Bear handled Wicker's release in the U.K. and Ireland, and the film played in 676 cinemas, according to Screen Daily. Primetime launched in 560 sites for A24. Before its opening, it took more than £245,000 from previews in 405 cinemas, a figure Screen Daily also reported. Previews are paid early screenings held ahead of the official opening.

Wicker's lead is small in cash terms, but it is the lead. For a film chasing a top spot, a margin that narrow means the ranking could have gone either way. Opening weekend numbers also tell only part of the story, since a film's second and third weekends show how many people keep buying tickets once the first crowds have come and gone.

For anyone who saw the two films listed side by side this week, the result is simple: one film finished first and the other second, with almost no distance between them. The next few weekends will show whether either one builds an audience.
