John Travolta to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at Torino Film Festival

John Travolta will receive a lifetime achievement award at the Torino Film Festival in Turin, Variety reported on 3 November 2026. The 44th edition of the festival runs from 24 November to 2 December.
The festival is led by artistic director Giulio Base. This edition is the third he has headed. According to the festival's website, the event was founded in 1982 as the International Youth Film Festival.
The award comes as Travolta's first film as a director makes another stop on the festival circuit. Propeller One-Way Night Coach is adapted from a children's book he published in 1997. It will get its second international festival screening at the Torino event.
The film had its first major festival outing at Cannes in May, where it premiered out of competition. That means it was shown outside the main prize race. Travolta was also surprised with a Cannes award ahead of the debut, Reuters reported on 15 May.
Viewers in many places can already watch the film at home. It has been streaming on Apple TV since 29 May.
Travolta's own view of his next move behind the camera is less settled. After the Cannes debut, he told Reuters that he was not sure he would direct again.
In June, Filmmaker Magazine ran an interview with Travolta about the film, conducted by Nicolas Rapold. It covers how the project came together, from the book to the screen.
Festivals like Torino give films a public stage in the months after their first premieres. They also give filmmakers and their work a place in the conversation. For Travolta, the award adds a new honour to a career that has spanned decades in front of the camera, and now a first step behind it.
