The Comedy About Spies heads out on its first UK tour in 2027
The Comedy About Spies is going on its first UK tour, with 17 venues booked between June and October 2027. WhatsOnStage published the dates on 3 November 2026.
The tour opens at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre on 12 June 2027 and runs to 19 June. It finishes at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton, where it plays from 5 to 9 October. In between, the show visits theatres in Salford, Plymouth, Birmingham, Glasgow, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Bristol, Canterbury, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Norwich, Leeds, Sheffield and New Wimbledon. Most stops run for a single week. Edinburgh's Festival Theatre hosts the show from 27 to 31 July, and Theatre Royal Glasgow from 13 to 17 July.
The comedy is written by Henry Lewis and Henry Shields and directed by Matt DiCarlo. Its producer, Mischief, describes it as a story in which CIA and KGB spies converge on London's Piccadilly Hotel in pursuit of an elusive file. The company's own listings describe a rogue British agent who steals plans for a top-secret weapon.
The show first opened at the Noël Coward Theatre in London's West End in April 2025. It later returned to the West End for an eight-week season at the Adelphi Theatre, which began performances on 1 August 2026. A West End run is a limited, open-ended stay in one of the capital's commercial theatres, and the tour is the show's first outside London.
The production has also collected industry recognition. It won the Best New Play prize at the 2026 WhatsOnStage Awards, which are voted on by readers of the website. It was also nominated for an Olivier Award for Best New Entertainment or Comedy Play. The Oliviers are run by the Society of London Theatre.
Henry Lewis said he is excited for the show to head out on tour and entertain audiences across the UK. Casting for the tour has not yet been announced, so the names of the performers who will take the roles on the road remain to be confirmed.
Anyone wanting to see the show in 2027 can check the dates for their nearest stop. Ticket prices and on-sale dates for each venue had not been published in the announcement.
