Sherlock & Daughter Heads to HBO Max in the UK and Ireland on November 5

Sherlock & Daughter reaches HBO Max in the UK and Ireland on November 5, according to Deadline. The show has already been sold to a long list of broadcasters and streaming services across Europe, Australia and Israel.
David Thewlis plays Sherlock Holmes. Blu Hunt plays Amelia Rojas, and Dougray Scott plays Professor Moriarty, Holmes's great rival. The series was created, written and executive produced by Brendan Foley. James Duff is the showrunner, meaning he runs the writers' room and the day-to-day making of the show.
The drama comes from Starlings Entertainment in association with The CW, the U.S. network. It is produced by Albion Television and StoryFirst, with financing from Krempelwood and MBM3. In the U.S., it airs on The CW and on HBO Max.
The international sales deals show how a show travels once it is made. Each buyer pays for the right to show it in its own country, and the terms are rarely made public. Deadline reports the new buyers as RTP in Portugal, CT in the Czech Republic, AB1 in France, Viasat in Poland and Magenta TV in Germany. Streamz has taken it in Belgium, Canal+ for its pay-TV channels in Austria and Switzerland, and YES in Israel.
Earlier buyers include SBS in Australia, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden, DR in Denmark, YLE in Finland, RUV in Iceland and Amediateka, which serves the CIS region of former Soviet states.
Warner Bros. Discovery, which owns HBO Max, bought the show for the UK in 2025, Variety reported at the time. The UK premiere is the next step in that deal.
Foley is already working on his next adaptation. In January, Deadline reported that he is writing a television version of Operation: Arctic Fox, based on the novel by Helena Immonen.
