Warner Music Group has bought Zebralution Music, a distributor that handles releases for independent record labels in Germany and across Europe. The deal was announced on 3 November 2026, in a Warner press release and in a report from Music Business Worldwide.

A distributor is the company that gets an independent label's records onto shop shelves and streaming services, then collects the sales money and passes it on. Zebralution's partner labels will now get access to Warner technology, including distribution, analytics and financial tools powered by Revelator. Warner acquired Revelator in April, as part of a push to expand its distribution and label services.

The company has changed hands more than once. Zebralution was founded in 2003 by Kurt Thielen and Sascha Lazimbat. Warner owned the Berlin-based business for about ten years, then sold it to independent music executives in 2017.

The most recent sale ran through a different owner. Frankfurt-based digital publishing company Bookwire was the seller. Bookwire is controlled by Insight Partners through Delta Software Group. Insight agreed in January to buy Zebralution from GEMA, the German collecting society that collects royalties for songwriters and music publishers.

That purchase closed in March, and Zebralution was folded into Bookwire. In April, Bookwire said it would keep the audiobook and digital publishing side of the business and set up the music operation as an independent company, Zebralution Music GmbH. That company is what Warner has now bought.

Co-CEOs Konrad von Löhneysen and Sascha Lazimbat will stay on and keep running the distribution business. They will work with Niels Walboomers, President of Warner Music Central Europe, to line up strategic operations. Warner's announcement did not give a purchase price.

For the independent labels that use Zebralution, the people they deal with day to day stay the same. The company's distribution work is staying in the hands of the founders' team, now with Warner's tools and backing behind it.
