Dublin band Fontaines D.C. has its first No. 1 on a radio chart. The song "Marianne" rose to the top of Billboard's Adult Alternative Airplay chart dated Nov. 7, according to Billboard, which reported the result on 3 November 2026.

That chart ranks the week's most-played songs on adult alternative radio stations. Plays are counted by Mediabase, a tracking service, and the figures are provided by Luminate, a data company that measures music consumption. Each detected play on a station is called a spin. "Marianne" gained 4% in plays in the tracking week of Oct. 23 to 29, which was enough to take the top spot.

The song is the lead single from the band's album Dopamine Chamber. It was released on County Love Train, XL Recordings and Beggars Group. The album came out on 16 October 2026, and "Marianne" is the second track, after "Six Shot Morning."

Dopamine Chamber also made its own chart debut. It opened at No. 1 on the Independent Albums, Indie Store Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts, all dated Oct. 31. On the Alternative Albums chart it debuted at No. 4, and on the Billboard 200, the main US album chart, at No. 14.

The band's climb on radio has been steady. Each of its six entries on Adult Alternative Airplay peaked higher than the one before. "Jackie Down the Line" reached No. 40, "Roman Holiday" No. 35, "Starburster" No. 18, "Favourite" No. 3 and "It's Amazing to Be Young" No. 2. "Marianne" completed the run at No. 1.

The label on the single also has history at the top of this chart. "Marianne" is XL Recordings' fourth No. 1 on Adult Alternative Airplay. The earlier three were all by Adele: "Rolling in the Deep," which held the top spot for 14 weeks in 2011, "Rumour Has It," which led for one week in 2011, and "Hello," which led for four weeks in 2015.

On the main Alternative Airplay chart, "Marianne" is holding at No. 16, its highest position there, for a third straight week. Its spins rose 5% in that most recent week, according to the same chart data.

For the band, the result is a first on radio charts. For listeners, it is a sign of how a song can build on stations over several weeks after an album arrives, rather than in its first days alone.
