Teen Survey Points to Strong Interest in GTA 6 Online, Launch Set for November 19

Nine in ten teenagers surveyed say they plan to play GTA Online, even though Rockstar Games has not announced an online mode for its next game. The figure comes from a survey of 9,000 teenagers run by the investment firm Piper Sandler, as GameSpot reported on 4 November 2026.
The game in question is Grand Theft Auto 6. It launches on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players can start preloading, which means downloading the game before it unlocks, from 10 November.
GTA Online is the series' shared multiplayer mode, where players meet in one ongoing online world. Retail product listings describe GTA 6 as a "single-player experience," and Rockstar has not said whether an online mode will arrive. Piper Sandler's survey also found that 40% of respondents planned to make additional in-game purchases.
Among teenagers who own a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, 70% said they plan to buy GTA 6. Of those owners, 55% said they would buy it right away, while 15% said they would wait several months.
Piper Sandler's survey data suggests a payer rate of about 44%. A payer rate is the share of players who spend money inside a game. The same firm sees potential for 45 million launch sales, according to a Seeking Alpha report dated 2 November 2026.
Separately, the market research firm Circana reported that nearly one in three console and PC gamers in the US plan to buy GTA 6. Circana says that purchase-intent figure, which measures how many people say they plan to buy a game, is the highest it has ever recorded.
The survey news also reached the stock market. Take-Two Interactive, the company that owns Rockstar, saw its share price rise on what Yahoo Finance described as strong demand indicated in the teen survey. When Piper Sandler's report was published, the stock traded at $190.17, close to its 52-week low, which is its lowest price over the past year.
Piper Sandler reiterated an Overweight rating on Take-Two, a positive rating that means the analyst expects the shares to perform better than the wider market. Analyst James Callahan reiterated a $290 price target, which is an estimate of where the share price could reach. Neither figure is a forecast of how the game will sell.
For players, the near-term dates are the ones that matter. Preloading opens on 10 November, and the game launches on 19 November. Whether an online mode follows is a question Rockstar has not yet answered.
