Elton John and Irish pop artist CMAT have released a new version of "Step Into Christmas", and it is streaming exclusively on Amazon Music from 5 November 2026. The track is credited as "Step Into Christmas (Amazon Music Original)", according to Amazon Music's press announcement.

CMAT sings alongside Elton John on the reimagined version. The original song first came out in 1973, and this is a new recording rather than a reissue of the older one.

Elton John confirmed the release on his official Instagram account on the same day. His post read "Step Into Christmas with @cmatbaby is Out Now, exclusively on @amazonmusic", in line with the exclusive arrangement. His post is here.

Amazon Music says the release is part of a wider set of new exclusive holiday songs from artists around the world. The streaming service has tied the new rendition to its holiday season lineup, so listeners who use the app will find it there and not on other platforms for now.

The original recording has a chart history of its own. Billboard reports that "Step Into Christmas" peaked at No. 7 on the UK Official Singles Chart in 2025. In 2026, it reached No. 49 on Billboard's Holiday 100, the US chart that ranks seasonal songs each year.

The Official Charts Company also published a note about the new version on 5 November 2026, which suggests the UK chart body is following the release closely. For listeners, the practical point is simple: the new take is on Amazon Music now, and the older recording remains available as before.

Holiday songs often return each winter, and this one is no exception. A fresh version with a new vocal partner gives an old favourite another season in the charts and playlists, and it gives an Amazon Music listener a reason to press play this November.
