Carson Daly Adds Saturday Today to His NBC Schedule

Carson Daly is taking on a weekend job at NBC's Today. He will co-host Saturday Today alongside Laura Jarrett, according to Deadline.
The weekend seat was held by Peter Alexander, who had been the previous co-host of Saturday Today. Alexander has since left NBC for MS NOW, the news channel.
Daly is not giving up his other roles. He will keep co-hosting Today on weekdays. He will also continue to host The Voice, the singing competition, and serve as its executive producer, the person who oversees the show's overall production. He is executive producer of The Voice: Celebrity as well.
Saturday's team has other familiar faces. Joe Fryer is the feature anchor, the presenter of the longer stories. Angie Lassman is the meteorologist. Matt Carluccio is executive producer of the weekend editions of Today.
Daly's link to the morning show goes back more than a decade. He joined the TODAY family in September 2013, first as host of the Orange Room, the show's social media and digital hub. He now covers pop culture news in the Today segment called Pop Start.
His television career started well before that. He hosted Last Call with Carson Daly from 2002 to 2019. Earlier still, he co-created and hosted MTV's Total Request Live, and he was its executive producer.
For weekend viewers, the change means a new name beside Laura Jarrett. For Daly, it means a bigger share of the NBC week, with the morning show, the music competition and the new Saturday slot all sitting on the same calendar.
