Carson Daly has hosted every single second of NBC's The Voice — 30 seasons across 16 years — but he will not be at the microphone when the franchise's new celebrity spinoff arrives. Keke Palmer will host The Voice: Celebrity, scheduled to premiere in Spring 2027, with Daly staying behind the scenes as a producer. He explained the decision himself in an Instagram post addressed to fans.

Daly told followers he is "not the right host" for the spinoff, which he described as a new idea built around famous people singing for three coaches rather than undiscovered talent. "I am still hosting the show currently," he wrote, addressing questions about his future on the flagship series. As for what comes next: "Nope. We're gonna try out these 2 formats this fall/spring & see how it goes!" — meaning NBC will run the original The Voice and the celebrity edition as separate formats before making longer-term decisions. The celebrity edition swaps the usual pool of unknown contestants for a cast drawn from acting, music, sports, comedy, influencing and reality television. Three coaches will guide them: Joe Jonas, Queen Latifah and Riley Green. Daly will help launch the show from the production side rather than the stage.

A report from Parade, published 3 August, suggested Daly was "stepping back" from hosting The Voice for Season 31 due to his Today show schedule and family commitments. The spinoff gets a new face — Palmer, whose hosting credits span talk shows, awards coverage and live events — and a coaching panel built for cross-genre appeal.
