Nintendo does not plan to raise the price of the Switch 2 again, company president Shuntaro Furukawa said, according to Eurogamer. The comments came as Nintendo unveiled its results for the first half of its fiscal year 2027, the company's financial year that runs from April to March.

The current price followed an increase that took effect on 1 September 2026 in the United States, Canada, Japan and Europe. It added $50, €30 or ¥10,000 to the console's price, depending on the region. In Japan, the console now sells for 59,980 yen. When Nintendo first set the price in April 2025, the suggested retail price was 49,980 yen.

Memory, the chips that store data and let the console run, has been a pressure point across the hardware market. Nintendo said it has access to enough memory to make more Switch 2 consoles. Reuters reported in May that rising memory costs were tied to the AI boom and were constraining supply for console makers, including Nintendo's rivals. Reuters covered that squeeze in more detail.

The Switch 2 launched on 5 June 2025. Nintendo has now sold 26 million of the consoles. In its Annual Report 2026, published on 29 June 2026, the company reported 48.71 million Switch 2 software units sold for the fiscal year. Software is the games and other titles sold for the console. The same report listed 3.80 million sales of the original Nintendo Switch hardware for that year.

Sales have slowed in the newest period. In its 6 August 2026 filing, Nintendo reported that Switch 2 sales fell 34.4% year on year to 3.82 million units. Nintendo's latest results add a fresh set of numbers to that picture.

For shoppers, the message is simple. The console costs more than it did at launch, and Nintendo says it has no plans to raise the price again. Anyone weighing a purchase now has a stable figure to plan around, at least for the moment.
