Stevie Nicks Shares a "Little Prayer" on the Midterm Results

Stevie Nicks has posted a "little prayer" on Instagram about the 2026 US midterm elections, and she wrote it before the votes were in. The singer first wrote the prayer on Oct. 18. Rolling Stone reported on the post on Nov. 5.
The midterms are US elections held halfway through a president's term. Voters choose every seat in the House of Representatives and a third of the Senate, and together those two chambers make up Congress.
In the post, Nicks wrote, "I really believed that what has happened was going to happen," and added, "It just had to." She said she did not have time to get the prayer out before the election, so she shared it afterward.
The results gave Democrats a strong night. Rolling Stone reported that the Democratic Party won total control of Congress. The outlet's headline for its story called it a blue tsunami, a phrase for a wave of votes for Democrats, the party whose colour is blue. CNN also described the 2026 results as a blue tsunami, saying Democrats had taken back control of Congress.
The scale of the shift reached beyond Congress. The Rochester Beacon reported that Democrats flipped many historically Republican states, which means they won races in places that have usually voted Republican. Rochester Beacon carried that report on Nov. 5.
Nicks is best known as a singer and songwriter and as a member of Fleetwood Mac. Musicians speak about politics in many ways, from interviews and concerts to social media posts like this one. Nicks's post is a short, personal message, and it does not spell out any policy.
Election coverage tends to move fast, and results can take days to confirm in some races. The final picture will build as more counts are published.
