Chris Pratt Will Return as James Reece in New Amazon Series "Savage Son"

Chris Pratt is set to play former Navy SEAL James Reece again, this time in a new series called Savage Son. Variety reported the casting on 5 November 2026.

The show is based on Jack Carr's third novel in The Terminal List book series. It is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, MRC and Civic Center Media. Variety reported that it is still unclear whether Savage Son will count as a third season of The Terminal List or as a spinoff, meaning a separate show set in the same story world.

The original show is the one that started it all. Amazon bought The Terminal List for its streaming service in 2020, after several outlets reported a bidding war for the project. The Hollywood Reporter covered that deal at the time. Pratt also executive produced the series, which is based on Carr's novel about a Navy SEAL trying to unravel a large conspiracy.

The story starts with Reece's whole platoon, a unit of SEALs, being ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission. A covert mission is a secret operation. Reece survives and sets out to find out who was behind the attack. Constance Wu co-starred with Pratt, according to Reuters.

Viewers can still catch up on the earlier run. In August 2026, Amazon said all eight episodes of The Terminal List Season 2 were streaming on Prime Video, with Pratt back as Navy SEAL Commander James Reece. Season 2 is the most recent chapter of the show that Savage Son now follows.

For fans, the news is that Reece's story is not finished. Pratt has returned to the role across the earlier series, and the new project keeps the character and the source novels at its centre. Amazon MGM Studios, MRC and Civic Center Media are named as the producers.

No premiere date or platform details for Savage Son have been confirmed so far. Anyone wanting to follow the project should watch for an official announcement from the studios or from Amazon.
