Jalen Brunson Makes Acting Debut as a Detective on SVU

Knicks guard Jalen Brunson has made his acting debut, playing a police detective in an episode of NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The episode aired Thursday, November 5, at 9 p.m. ET, according to NBC.
The episode is called Forsaken and is Episode 5 of Season 28. Brunson plays Detective Jay Madison. His scene runs about one minute, Variety reports.
In that scene, Madison meets Detective Olivia Benson at a café. He has a past run-in with a suspect, and he passes on what he knows. Benson congratulates him on his promotion to detective after his time as a beat cop, a patrol officer who covers a set area. His information helps Benson get the search warrant she needs in a case involving the sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl.
Brunson became a New York hero in June, when he led the Knicks to their first NBA championship in 53 years. After the title, he joked that he would try to get on the show. Mariska Hargitay, who stars as Benson and also executive produces the series, had already named him one of her dream guest stars in May, alongside Jamie Lee Curtis.
The two have appeared together before. In September, Brunson joined Hargitay for the opening monologue of the Emmy Awards, which she hosted. He has also said Special Victims Unit is his favourite show and that he would love a cameo on it.
Season 28 premiered on October 8. Brunson's casting was announced in September, at which point his character was still under wraps. Now fans can see what he brings to the squad, in a single episode.
