JENNIE's new solo song, "Someone to Hold," is out now and can be streamed, Billboard reported on 6 November 2026. The song is the headline track on the soundtrack for Steps, a Netflix animated film that arrives on 20 November.

The film is directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa and produced by Amy Poehler, Jane Hartwell and Kim Lessing. Its voice cast includes Amanda Seyfried as Cinderella, Ali Wong as Lilith, Stephanie Hsu as Margot, Bette Midler as the Fairy Godmother and Nikki Glaser as Priscilla. The story is a fresh take on the Cinderella tale, told through the bond between sisters.

"Someone to Hold" was written and produced by Justin Tranter. He also wrote and produced three more original songs for the film's official soundtrack. According to Netflix's own announcement, the sisters' bond is at the centre of the song, and JENNIE, Rose Gray and EMEI together perform four new songs in the film.

A companion soundtrack album is due on the same day as the film, 20 November. Fans who want to hear the song before then have a preview to go on. A short clip of it was included in the film's trailer.

For JENNIE, who is a member of the group Blackpink, the track marks a new step into film music. Allkpop describes it as her first song for an animated film soundtrack.

Soundtrack songs often reach listeners in two places at once, on a streaming service and inside the film itself. Here, the song and the film both reach audiences on 20 November, when the full soundtrack also becomes available.
