Lewis Cope and Jonny Labey Set for Strangers on a Train Tour

Lewis Cope and Jonny Labey will lead a UK and Ireland tour of Strangers on a Train, with the first performance at Theatre Royal Windsor on 15 January 2027. The casting was announced on 6 November 2026 by WhatsOnStage.
Cope plays Charles Bruno, and Labey plays Guy Haines, the two men whose chance meeting on a train sets the plot in motion. The story comes from Patricia Highsmith's novel. Alfred Hitchcock turned it into a film in 1951. This tour uses a stage adaptation by Craig Warner, and Roxana Silbert directs it.
The production is dedicated to the memory of Craig Warner. Robert Innes Hopkins designs the set and costumes, Matt Haskins the lighting, and Elizabeth Purnell the sound.
The tour is a long one. So far, 23 venues have been announced, and the run is split into three blocks.
The first block runs from January to May 2027 and includes 16 stops. It starts in Windsor and goes on to Canterbury, York, Birmingham, Mold, Glasgow and Edinburgh. It then moves through Richmond, Peterborough, Aberdeen and Brighton. Dublin's Gaiety Theatre is booked for 13 to 17 April. Later stops include Cheltenham, Bradford, Guildford and Darlington, where the spring leg ends on 22 May.
The second block covers June and July. It begins at the New Theatre in Cardiff on 1 June and continues to Liverpool, Dartford, Truro and Bath. The Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield follows on 6 to 10 July, and the run closes at Curve in Leicester from 13 to 17 July.
A third block is planned for September to November 2027. The venues for those weeks have not yet been named.
For audiences in many towns, the appeal is simple. A touring production brings a full West End-style staging to cities and towns that do not host a long London run. Tour dates are announced in stages, so anyone planning a trip should check each theatre's own booking page for ticket prices and dates.
The list of stops shows how far the tour travels. It crosses England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, and it finishes its spring and summer legs in the south-west and the Midlands.
