World of Warcraft: Forever Hotfix Fixes Tauren Speed Bug in Warsong Gulch

Blizzard has changed how one Horde ability works in the new World of Warcraft: Forever, after players found a way to use it to win early in a battleground. The change arrived in the game's first major hotfix, a quick patch that fixes problems between larger updates. Eurogamer reported the details on 6 November 2026.
The ability is called Plainsrunning, and it belongs to Tauren, a playable race in the Horde faction. Each stack of Plainsrunning gives a 2% boost to movement speed, and a Tauren can build up to 30 stacks, for a 60% increase. Stacks drop when the character stops moving.
The problem showed up in Warsong Gulch, a capture-the-flag battleground where two teams race to take the other side's flag back to their own base. Before the gates open, players must wait at their starting points. Some players ran back and forth during that wait to build stacks, then sprinted toward the enemy base the moment the gates opened, aiming for an early flag capture.
The hotfix closes that gap in three ways. Taurens can no longer gain stacks while the battleground's preparation phase is running. Any stacks a Tauren has will be removed when that character picks up the enemy flag. And a Tauren carrying the enemy flag cannot build new stacks at all.
Blizzard published the hotfix notes as "WoW: Forever Hotfixes - November 5, 2026". The same update covers other fixes in the game. The respawn time for Deathstalker Erland, a non-player character needed for an escort quest, has been shortened. Supply vendors on Zephras Isle now stock tradeskill bags, the item containers used by crafting professions, that players had found in other starter zones.
Blizzard also published a separate set of hotfix notes, dated 'Hotfixes: November 5, 2026'. That one covers several other games in the World of Warcraft family, including Midnight, Mists of Pandaria Classic, Season of Discovery, The Burning Crusade Classic, WoW Classic Era and Hardcore.
Forever itself is now live worldwide. In it, players level up to 60 across the original continents of the game's world. Gamepad support is also available, though it is still in beta, a testing stage where features can change before they are fully released.
For players who had been using the speed build, the hotfix changes the opening of Warsong Gulch. The race to the enemy flag now starts with the gates, not with the wait before them.
