SpongeBob Gets a Christmas Special on Nov. 27

SpongeBob SquarePants is getting a Christmas special. Variety reported that the hour-long animated show, called "Merry Christmas, Mr. Plankton," will debut on Nickelodeon on Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. ET/PT.
Fans who cannot watch on the channel will not have to wait. The special will also stream on Paramount+ the same day it airs on Nickelodeon.
In the story, Plankton takes over the North Pole. SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs and their friends must team up to save Christmas. Lewis Black guest stars as Santa.
The show's regular voice cast returns for the special. Tom Kenny voices SpongeBob, and Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass, Clancy Brown, Mr. Lawrence, Jill Talley and Carolyn Lawrence also return in their roles.
Nickelodeon has also scheduled a second program that evening. A new episode of "The Patrick Star Show," titled "Snowbound! A Star Family Christmas," premieres at 6 p.m. ET/PT, right after the special. In it, Patrick and his family swap Christmas stories while snowed in at home.
The main series has a long history. SpongeBob SquarePants was created by Stephen Hillenburg and first aired in 1999. It has been seen in more than 180 countries and translated into over 30 languages.
For families planning their Thanksgiving-to-Christmas viewing, the schedule is simple. The two programs run back to back on Nickelodeon, and both are available on Paramount+ on the same day.
