Dragon Age Writer David Gaider Joins Owlcat's The Expanse: Osiris Reborn

David Gaider, the writer behind much of the Dragon Age series, is working with Owlcat Games on the story of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, a role-playing game based on the science fiction series The Expanse. The news was reported on 6 November 2026.
Gaider's work on the project focuses on parts of the game's narrative. He is working alongside Owlcat's team while also running his own studio, Summerfall Studios, which he co-founded after leaving BioWare. PC Gamer reported that Gaider said The Expanse has long been one of his favourite series, and that he jumped at the chance to take part.
Gaider was the lead writer on Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. He is often credited as the architect of Thedas, the dark fantasy world where the series is set. Summerfall's most recent release is Stray Gods, a role-playing musical.
The project also has a casting change. Owlcat Games recast the male version of its protagonist, the Martian Captain, after fan feedback. According to Eurogamer, the reworked character is now voiced by Blythe Melin.
Owlcat Games is based in Cyprus, where it has its headquarters and development work. The studio has more than 450 employees spread across offices in several countries. It began as a small group of games industry veterans.
For players, the practical picture is simple. The game's story is being shaped by a writer with a long record on Dragon Age, and the lead character's voice has changed. Neither announcement has been tied to a release date so far.
Owlcat's game is adapted from a series of novels by James S. A. Corey, the pen name of writers Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, and the television adaptation of The Expanse ran on Amazon Prime Video. Gaider's involvement adds a veteran role-playing writer to a team that already has a large, established fan base.
