Netflix has released a new trailer for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, and the film now has its dates. The trailer dropped on Friday, 6 November, according to Deadline.

Brad Pitt returns as Cliff Booth, the stuntman he played in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Pitt won the Supporting Actor Oscar for that role. This time Tarantino wrote the screenplay but decided against directing it. David Fincher is in the director's chair.

The story jumps forward to 1977. Netflix says it takes place eight years after Booth's previous encounter, and its official synopsis describes him as a sometime stuntman who takes on odd jobs and dangerous favours in Los Angeles. Netflix also teases murder, blackmail, theft and extortion, so the trouble is back too.

The cast is large. Scott Caan plays a Hollywood star. Elizabeth Debicki, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Peter Weller also star.

The release plan has two stages. The film opens in IMAX on 25 November for a two-week engagement, the large-screen run that gives the picture its theatrical window. It then begins streaming on Netflix on 23 December, four weeks later.

The book side of the project is also moving. Variety reported in September that Tarantino will publish a Cliff Booth novel before the movie streams on Netflix.

For viewers, the path is simple. Cinemas get the film first, for a short run, and the home audience follows in late December. The trailer is the first long look at how Fincher and Pitt have picked up the story.
