NPR's Ayesha Rascoe interviewed Republican consultant Hogan Gidley about the Republican Party's strategy after the 2026 midterm elections. The interview was featured on Weekend Edition Sunday, NPR's weekend morning news program, on November 8, 2026.

The midterms are the congressional elections held in the middle of a president's term. The Republican Party, often called the GOP, is one of the two major U.S. political parties.

According to NPR, Gidley is a Republican consultant and a former White House deputy press secretary during the first Trump administration. The press secretary speaks to reporters on behalf of the president and the White House.

Earlier in his career, Gidley served as national communications director for Rick Santorum, a former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania who ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012. NPR reported on that role in 2012.

In June 2025, NPR reported that Gidley was a senior adviser to the House speaker. The House speaker is the presiding officer of the U.S. House of Representatives.

NPR said audio of the interview would be available later on November 8.
